Aegiceras corniculatum is a shrub that normaly does not grow higher than 1 to 2 metres.
This type of mangrove plant is, as the name reveals, usually found along rivers, with most varied levels of salinity, in other words rivers that flow into seas or rather into oceans. This type of mangrove can be found anywhere from India to New Guinea as well as in Australia.

There are often not any apparent above ground roots to be seen.
The leaves are a shiny dark green and extremely resistant to insects and the like, since the leaves are leather-like.
The blossoms are small, white and arranged in bunches of 15 to 20 at the end of the branches. They smell like bananas, according to a book by AIMS. In my opinion they have a discreet sweet and agreeable scent.

Its fruit is green and becomes red as it ripens. When it is completely ripe only the seeds in the protective cover of the fruit are left.
The seeds are located in a protective cover and are approximately 5 cm long and have a diameter of 0,5 cm. Freshly picked seeds should be kept in a bowl of water for about 3-7 days, then the seed should break through its protective cover and can be picked up. The leaves spurt out of the lower part of the seed, the upper part of the seed, which is where the seed hung on the plant, should be planted into the ground.
The trunk is grayish to dark grey and smooth.
This type of Mangrove grows in sandy grounds as well as in mixed earth as well as in marshy parts.
Height: up to 6 meters
Temperature: 20-35° Celsius
Ideal growing conditions: 30° C air temperature, water temperature: 20-25°C, 60% up to 80% humidity – 70-100% sunlight

The seeds are often used to poison fish. The blossoms are used for perfumes and the leaves are eaten in the Moluccas.
